PHYSICAL THERAPY MANAGEMENT OF TMJ DISORDERS

Physical Therapy Management of TMJ Disorders is a two-day comprehensive continuing education course designed to demystify the PT treatment of orofacial pain. Numerous studies have shown the efficacy of physical therapy intervention for temporomandibular disorders, but there are few PTs who feel confident to treat these patients. In this course, therapists will expand upon their current manual skills applying them to the jaw and cervical regions, successfully reducing orofacial pain, headaches and otalgia. Both the anatomy and biomechanics of normal and dysfunctional temporomandibular joints are reviewed in detail, including traditional dental options. Participants will learn how to perform an in-depth evaluation of orofacial pain patients, formulate a diagnosis and create a comprehensive treatment plan. These skills can be immediately transferable to the clinic on Monday and can instantly add a new patient population to any PT clinic. This seminar is a well-balanced combination of hands-on lab instruction and engaging lecture, taught in person by Ryan Lynch, PT, OCDN, CCTT.
